I had a little time here at work and I read this today:
Some of our major cities have had the good sense to enact some of the strongest gun laws in the nation’s history and as a consequence, it has been widely reported that former cities who had at one time been known by such unseemly monikers as “Murder Capital of The World” have quieted down considerably and people are no longer afraid to walk their streets.
Au contraire, mon ami!
How do you spell Chicago? How about Detroit? Or Newark, N.J.? I could go on and on listing major city after major city that have the strictest firearms controls and still have very high crime rates involving guns.

I understand that no gun kills anyone all by itself, but if you put that gun in the hand of a person who has a motive, then that gun can become an effective killer indeed. So let me say unequivocably [sic] that “Guns do not, indeed, kill people, but assholes WITH guns do kill people.
Okay, Okay, I did see where gun crime in New York City dropped … and killings by knives and other “cutting instruments” rose 50%. I sort of think if someone wants to do harm to another person they generally find a way.

You can’t wrestle with a pig in the mud. It doesn’t get you anywhere and it annoys the pig. That is the reasoning I am applying when you try to reason with a fool. The one who said: “Guns do not, indeed, kill people, but assholes WITH guns do kill people” is what I am referring to. This person ASSUMES that if you take guns from people that the criminal minded will have no other way to get guns and thus won’t kill! Really? We have very strong drug laws and yet illegal drugs are a multi-BILLION dollar business! What kind of elementary reasoning says that the only way to kill is with a legally obtained gun? We already have good gun laws in place. To make them more stringent only hinders the good citizen from getting one for protection. It makes responsible citizens targets for the criminal element who can kill with knives, bombs, ropes, strangulation, poison, pushing someone off a cliff, drowing someone, beating someone to death, and the list goes on and on and on. Where has common sense gone? If guns eventually get outlawed one day, then illegal gun sales will become the new multi-billion dollar industry. It will make criminals rich and dangerous. Does that sound like a good plan to anyone with common sense???

Criminals are already rich and dangerous and loose in congress working their intransigent obstructionism against every sensible move made by the president.

And Washington DC, too! They had a gun ban like Chicago, and when it was struck down a couple years ago, homicide rates dropped like a brick. Dr John Lott has tons of info on the gun issue.
