We’d better wise up; I’m tired of the “It can’t happen here” mentality. I posted this as well, thought the Aussies were smarter than to let this happen.
it’s happening in the U.S. as well.
So goes the phrase, “Don’t Tread on Me.”
True American’s are not going to allow anybody to ban guns.
Firearms are sanctioned in the 2nd Amendment for the defense against tyranny.
What’s next, bows and arrows, knives, bayonets, spears ?
Maybe the Obama will decree that the Secret Service stand down on any threat to his fantastic butt, and require that they put all their weapons on safety and have no rounds chambered.
Rules of engagement apply for our troops, why not your security force ?
Rules of engagement do not apply to me.

The Obama-Soetoro’s, Clintons, Holders, Schumer’s have to be stopped. They don’t give a flying fuck about you or I, they only care about their own power and survival.
Yes sir Bob.
Startling and frightening that this can happen in Australia. Appalling.
Yes Maggie, we’re in deep do-do. And most folks don’t realize it. I know gun ownership is something even a lot of conservatives don’t know is under attack, but it’s real and like you said, frightening and appalling.
In my view, it’s better to have a gun and never need to use it, than to need one and not have one.
I’m a huge fan of Dr Lott, who wrote “More Guns, Less Crime.” It’s a great book and it proves, with statistical evidence, that guns reduce crime. It really is that simple.
There really is no more need for debate about this. If people want to look around here, just look at Chicago – most restrictive gun laws in the nation, highest murder rate in the nation.
This thing that’s happened to Austrailia should wake up a lot of Americans … but it’s doubtful. “That could never happen here!”
Just posted this; I’d seen it before, but I didn’t even bother searching my archives to see if i’d posted it before. It serves as a reminder with the proposed U.N. crap Hillary is trying sell.

I have a solution to this mess:
First of all, whenever any citizen registers for their social security card, give them a free government voucher with which they can purchase a weapon of their choice – - a handgun of any caliber up to 44 magnum but which has a limited chamber capacity of perehaps 8-10 rounds – - and one bolt action rifle with a capacity of 8-10 rounds or shotgun of choice. (limited to 12 guage.)
Also give them a voucher for a lifetime supply of ammo for those two weapons (one for hunting and the other for target practice) and leave them alone to enjoy their firepower in peace.
This would suffice for people to both go hunting and to protect themselves.
The high powered military-style assault weapons can be dispensed with because they serve no practical purpose except to slaughter muchos humans or to shred a piece of wild game into a frothy red mass that is useless for the table.
While we are at it, will someone who thinks they might know please explain to me how that the woman who owned the weapons that the kid stole in the recent shooting tragedy was unprotected by the guns that she owned?
If gun ownership is such a sure guarantee of protection against assault, why is that woman who owned several guns no longer living?
Greetings, Mr. Liming. I have enjoyed the back ‘n forth between you and Steve. Your support for the 2nd amendment is certainly not shared by “O’ or Hillary. FYI – due to the size of the round, a .44 would have only about ten -or less- in a clip. A mystery which may never be explained is why the 20 yr old’s mother wasn’t able to protect herself; though I suspect that she didn’t have one handy (on her person) and the others safely secured. My blog on this tragedy:
http://partneringwitheagles.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/drugged-youth-and-armed-violence-in-schools-not-rocket-science-also-a-missed-opportunity-the-recent-election-dec-17th-a-day-to-correct-injustice/
The thing about self protection with guns as I see it is this: The guns must be loaded and readily accessible at the moment a threat arises or they are totally useless for self defense. The weapon must be accessed, taken in hand, the safety flipped to the off position, a firing stance assumed (or at least have the weapon raised and finger on trigger ready to fire–) and then there is the time it takes to actually pull the trigger on the weapon – - – I think by the time all this sequence has been completed, a killer who already has a weapon (and who has the “drop” on the potential defender) has an insurmountable advantage that renders the highly-touted “Guns For Self Defense” argument somewhat impotent.
If the teachers or the principal had been armed in the event of this tragedy, don’t you suppose their first inclination would have been to think of the intruder as an ordinary visitor or something and once the violence began, can you imagine the courage it would take for someone who is untrained to combat situations to actually put themselves in the line of fire in an attempt to neutralize the intruder?
If we are going to look at providing guns to educators, then I think we also have send the educators to some kind of intensive “Boot Camp” program that will desensitize them to the paralysis that often accompanies violent situations, ingrains the killer instinct in them so they can respond effectively with their weapons when the need arises and so they can be trained to evaluate a situation and make the decision to employ the weapons in the first place.
I think ten rounds of .44 (mag) ammo in a clip would be fine because a 44 magnum round can explode the engine block of an automobile or split a three inch tree so I think it would be adequate to confront an intruder who is nothing but flesh, blood and bone, yes?
What’cha think of that?
To answer your first scenario, I like the odds of protecting my humble home with my loaded and accessible firearms from an intruder rather than having to yell at an intruder … “stop right there! I have 911 on my speed dial!” just sayin’

I don’t think the teachers involved in this tragedy would believe the guy was an “ordinary visitor” John, seeing he broke out a window to gain access according to most reports. As far as “courage” is concerned I believe also the teachers involved had clearly demonstrated extraordinary courage even being unarmed … being armed would most likely have bolstered said courage.

Training for teachers so they would be proficient in protecting the schools from an armed intruder … yes …. absolutely.

Do I think a 10 round magazine would be sufficient? I don’t know. Who am I to say what’s good for me is good for you? That is probably something to be left up to the individual and what they personally feel comfortable with.

My, my,…where should I start John.
Did you think that that comment above would convince us that you know anything about firearms, or are you just being coy on the subject ?
Second paragraph from the bottom.
The women trusted her son, and then he killed her and took the guns.
The very fact that she was stupid enough to allow him even near the weapons while knowing what he was capable of is an indication of the possibility she was blinded by the “he’s just a nice boy”. mantra we have heard after all the other horrendous crimes committed against defenseless innocents.
I answered your last paragraph.
I have a “Marksman” certification on .45 colt sidearm, M-l carbine rifle, M-l Rifle, 30 cal. machine gun, 50 cal. machine gun, .44 cal. magnum, .22 cal. pistol. I am familiar with some others too. So what is the point about my certifications? So why don’t you just “assume the position” (Standing, Sitting or Prone) and get off criticizing my knowledge and proficiency with weapons? Ready on the right, ready on the left, ready on the firing line! One clip, 8-rounds, rapid fire– lock and load! How is that? Is that a Granny’s Drawers or
what? Fear nothing my pretty – - – I have adequate background and training in various weaponry, tactics and techniques.
So exactly what is the point of your comment anyway?
Well John, I stand corrected.
You appear to be a one man weapon.
So, how do you feel about using unemployed veterans to protect the schools ?
