One cause of the tragedy in Connecticut … Obama administration cut funding for school security

December 17, 2012

In the aftermath of the murder of 20 young children and 6 adults at the school in Connecticut the major media and politicians of a liberal mind-set are focused again on more gun-control. Tragedies like this are exploited time and again by people like Barack Obama and those always looking for ways to shove their agenda of more and more control over law abiding Americans. In stead of focusing on the root of the matter with this nation they miss the mark willingly. These kinds of events create an emotional willingness in the people to even give up Constitutional rights in order to prevent this from happening again. I’ve had a couple of people make comments on my last couple of posts saying I’ve missed the mark in pointing out the faux outrage of Barack Obama and how the story is continually changing. Those commenters, though well meaning have missed the point and fall into the category of sheep being lead to the slaughter. They obviously make decisions based on their emotions and not on facts and consequences.

The cause of the tragedy in Connecticut is not access to firearms or the freedom to “keep and bear” arms in America. And that goes for weapons of high-power and high capacity. Without getting into a long drawn out break down of the 2nd amendment, I’ll simply say it has nothing to do with target shooting and hunting. Yet when a tragedy such as the shooting in Connecticut happens and liberal politicians cry for more and more gun control, they always tell everyone to relax, everyone will still get to target shoot and hunt. But rest assured they have eventual complete firearm ban and confiscation in mind. If anyone doubts this just ask the good folks in Australia. And if anyone thinks more gun control and out right banning of firearms will make American society safer … check with the people in which only the government has guns. When the supposed  leaders of this nation exhibit a blatant disregard for the law … what can we expect from the citizenry?

Obama and company are in full firearm control mode using phony outrage and playing on the emotions of the public to accomplish their agenda. But when we take a close look at why this stuff happens most of it points right back to those in charge .. ie … the Obama regime. Digging somewhat deeper we find the Obama administration just happened to cut funding for school security programs. The following is an article I found explaining how the Obama administration has a direct involvement in the tragedy in Connecticut, but you won’t see it in any major media.

The Washington Guardian

Obama administration, Congress quietly let school security funds lapse

Before Connecticut tragedy, administration eliminated emergency preparedness program, let school violence prevention programs lapse

Beneath the expressions of grief, sorrow and disbelief over the Connecticut school massacre lies an uneasy truth in Washington: over the last few years the Obama administration and Congress quietly let federal funding for several key school security programs lapse in the name of budget savings.

Government officials told the Washington Guardian on Friday night that two Justice Department programs that had provided more than $200 million to schools for training, security equipment and police resources over the last decade weren’t renewed in 2011 and 2012, and that a separate program that provided $800 million to put police officers inside the schools was ended a few years earlier.

Meanwhile, the administration eliminated funding in 2011-12 for a separate Education Department program that gave money to schools to prepare for mass tragedies, the officials said.

A nationally recognized school security expert said those funds had been critical for years in helping schools continue to enhance protections against growing threats of violence. But they simply dried up with little notice as the Columbine and Virginia Tech school shooting tragedies faded from memory and many Americans and political leaders had their attentions diverted to elections, a weak economy and overseas dramas.

“I was baffled to see funds and programs cut in these areas,” said Kenneth Trump, the president of the National School Safety and Security Services firm that helps school districts and policymakers improve protections for teachers and students. “Our political and policy leaders need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk about being concerned about school safety.

“We have roller coaster public awareness, public policy, and public funding when it comes to school safety. The question isn’t whether school safety is a priority today and tomorrow,” Trump added. “The question is whether it will be a priority years down the road when there isn’t a crisis in the headlines.”

Leaders in both parties in Washington on Friday expressed remorse and disbelief in the tragedy in the tiny suburban Connecticut town of Newtown, where a single 20-year-old gunman walked into the school where his mother taught and killed 20 children and six others before turning the gun on himself.

“Our hearts are broken today,” President Barack Obama said, wiping a tear from his eyes as he reacted to the tragedy. “As a country we have been through this too many times.

“These neighborhoods are our neighborhoods, and these children are our children. And we’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics,” the president added.

But last year, his administration took a less muted tone as it submitted its 2012 Education Department budget to Congress that eliminated the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) funding, which for years provided between $20 million and $30 million in annual grants to help schools create emergency and crisis preparation and prevention plans for tragedies just like the one that unfolded Friday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~So the next time you see Barack Obama wipe away a non-existent tear and you hear the fake outrage of liberal politicians demanding more gun control … know these people are as much at fault as the shooter.  Liberal politicians create the climate for tragedies like in Connecticut and then express outrage after it happens.  A little off subject but the same modus operandi of the Congress … those in government create a “fiscal cliff” … then use that to justify more and more taxes and spending. Faux outrage when they are solely responsible … looking to punish others for their actions. It’s all about control folks. This stuff … even tragedies … are all by design.
HERE is a great piece debunking all of the leftist arguments for more gun control.
    Steve, the constant babel of voices clamoring for laws to control the purchase or possession of objects in the hopes that controlling things will change people’s hearts makes me a little crazy. It is not guns, sodas, or motor vehicles that need to be controlled, it is ourselves. Every time a law is passed that regulates the purchase of a good or service, a subtle message is sent that we cannot control ourselves, and thus our access to goods or services deemed deleterious to our well-being must be restricted. Peace be with you — Kelly
      Good morning Kelly. Until we stop the decline in morality in America we will continue to see this sort of thing. When firearms are finally banned in the United States that is when we as a free society cease to exist. Know of a certainty governments are responsible for the extermination of hundreds of millions of innocent people. As horrific as this shooting is … it is nothing in comparison to what an out of control government can do to it’s own people after they have been disarmed.
    Hmmmm, how very Passive Aggressive of him….and the school was hit!
    I really wish investigators would stay on this story like the murder of Our Ambassador and the others in Libya. Something is just now right…something is being left out of the facts we know right now.
      Ronald Reagan: We must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.
